Q. Hello, I am thinking of writing a research paper on Homosexualilty and Religion but I do not know in which field should I look? Is Religion
I do not know where to start this research. Where can I find reference material?
Thanks for your email. We have a Diversity Resources Research Guide that would be very useful to you regarding where to look for books on homosexuality. There are two reference sources for those, our Credoreference database, our Academic Ebooks Collection which has several good book resources on homosexuality. If you go to this link http://ottawa.libguides.comand look for the Diversity Resources Research Guide you will be able to find many reference resources if you go to LGBT Resources that would be helpful to you.
If you want to find full-text articles that are peer-reviewed then go to Ebscohost. If you login to the Myers Library Online Page and click on Online Databases and then go to Ebscohost, combine the Academic Search Premier, the Religion and Philosophy Collection and the SocIndex Full-Text Databases by clicking on the checkboxes next to them. Then look below the search box at limit your search and check the boxes for scholarly and full-text articles, before you click continue, you should be able to find a large number of articles. In doing the search myself in the databases I found 593 articles. Of course, you can replicate my search, and you would then have to either add additional terms to limit your search results more or otherwise just browse results by reading abstracts and seeing which articles would best work for your paper.
Let me know if you have any further questions about searching, by either emailing me back or calling me at the number below.
