Dear Sir, or Madame -

I am researching a newspaper article that was written in 1963 by a man living in Ottawa. His article was about the a "pioneer railroad" that came to Ottawa in 1867. It appears that he has mixed up some information about the construction of the Transcontinental Railroad with the Kansas railroad, and I am wondering if he might have got his information from the University Library. Do you have any copies of encyclopedias in your collection with copyrights before 1963, or other works with information about the Transcontinental Railroad, that are copy righted before the 1960's? Thank you so much for checking for me.

Answer

HI Craig

If you looked in our library catalog that is available and accessible online you would be aware that we got rid of all dated encyclopedias from our collection as we are moving away from print towards a digital library.

I am sorry, but we do not have any 1963 encyclopedias except for one opera title. You might contact Deb Barker at the Ottawa Old Depot Museum. Their focus is on trains and she might be able to help you.
