Research for Global Issues in the Liberal Arts

Hello,

My professor for Global Issues in the Liberal Arts suggested that I reach out to you for assistance with research.

The research paper I am working on is about the current economic crisis in Venezuela. Some things I want to understand:

1. How did Venezuela get to this crisis point?
2. Was there anything they could have done politically to avoid this crisis?
3. How does the situation in Venezuela compare to other Latin American nations (very generally).

Please let me know if this is something that you are able to help out with, or if you would need more information from my side.

Thanks and regards,
Robert

Answer

Hello Robert

You might start out by going to some general database resources available to you in our Online Library regarding the history of Venezuela e.g.

Britannica e-stax and then there are two other resources that could provide articles:

If you enter the country's name in the Opposing Viewpoints Database you will find a variety of sources that would be helpful organized into viewpoints, academic journals, primary sources, audio and news about what is happening at present in the country. Then there is the Global Issues in Context database that will also be very helpful to you in this research. The really nice thing about this particular database is that if you just enter the country's name in the search box you will have all the newest information about what is happening. Try it and see for yourself.

You can also go to Ebschost and focus on combining Academic Search Premier with Social Science Index Full-Text databases  for more information about the culture and problems being faced by the populace. If you do that make sure to go below the search box in the database and checkmark both full-text and peer review articles before conducting your search.

Let me know if you have any further questions.
