I am researching the social, family, and language contributions of African-American culture on American history during the Civil Rights Era?
Answer
Hello Tamara
We have a few history databases that you could start out with: the Annals of American history is one of those databases. Then you might also try combining several databases in Ebscohost to do your search. I tried combining the following: Academic Search Premier; History Reference Center; Social Science Index FT and Education Research Complete. I limited my search to full-text and peer reviewed articles by checking those boxes below the search box.
I combined
contributions AND african-americans AND civil war and got 15 articles
social contributions AND african-americans AND civil war and got 11 articles
If you took off the full-text check box, there were 24 articles I found in the first one. If you go this route you will need to ask Jan Lee (jan.lee@ottawa.edu) to get articles for you on ILL but they might take a week or two to come.
You can try to replicate my searches. If you have any problems with searching or further questions please email me back or call me at the number below.
