What resources would I use for statistics of crimes? or something current for crime within a state? IS BOJ.gov reliable? thank you!

Answer

Hello James

I am not finding a site BOJ.gov and I am afraid that I do not know that site. Or are you talking about boj.com which is the Business Online Journal?

If you go to the OU Portal, login with your OUID and password and go to the Myers Library Online page and look for our Online Databases link; we have a Statistics database called ProQuest Insight that would be very helpful to you for finding crime statistics. if you click on Section Five of the databases table of contents, there is a list of statistics tables that you can browse that contains crime statistics.

There are some additional links you might want to consider using too on the web that are reliable:

Crime Reports  https://www.crimereports.com/

City Data   http://www.city-data.com/crime

FBI Crime Statistics http://www.fbi.gov/stats-services/crimestats

Uniform Crime Reporting http://www.ucrdatatool.gov/

Please let me know if you have any further questions about this topic or anything else.

Thanks,

Gloria Creed-Dikeogu, Director of Library Services
