I am having trouble finding peer reviews. I have checked the necessary searches but I'm not sure what I'm looking for. When the reference comes up where do I go from there. Thanks for your help!

Answer

Hello Clare

If you use Ebscohost then be aware that Peer-reviewd articles are scholarly articles in the databases, but to get them there are boxes below the searchbox that must be checked. So if you do a search and look below the box to limit your search before inputting your search terms, then find the boxes that say scholarly peer-reviewed and full-text and check them both. Once you have those checked then you should be able to find the articles you want to use for your paper. If you are having a problem with combining terms and you are not finding anything you need, then try to be guided by the terms that come up in the searchbox when you enter your search terms; also think of synonyms for the terms you are using and try combining those. Also if you don't find what you are looking for go to the left hand side in ebscohost and look at the search terms that the system offers you; as it is possible that you might be able to find what you are looking for there if you did not use the correct terms to retrieve your articles.

If you have any further questions for me about boolean searching then please call me at 785-248-2536 or email me back.
