How does the online library work?
Answer
Hello Shannon
If by the online library you mean the online library databases. I can try to explain here in this email. If after my explanation you did not get what you needed then please feel free to call me at 785-248-2536.
To get to the databases you will need to login to the OU Portal, myottawa.ottawa with your OUID and password. Then once you have logged in, you can go to the Myers Library Online Page. There are three Online Library Database links on the Myers Library Page that go to the databases. If you click on one of these links then you can go to the list of online databases which is arranged in alphabetical order and choose any you wish. Each database has a description and you can choose them by looking at those descriptions. Ebscohost is a suite of library databases that you can search by clicking on those you want to search and then searching across them. We have a LibGuide about Database searching that you might want to visit at http://ottawa.libguides.com/database
We also have EDS which is Ebsco Discovery Service and it is a catalog that allows you to search across all the databases at once. It also has links to most of our important resources. Then there is our Periodical A to Z and it is a link that allows you to go straight into the databases from a journal you are looking for and have entered in the search box.
if you have any further questions, please email me back or call me at the number above.
Thanks
Gloria Creed-Dikeogu, Myers Library
