Writing about people with disabilities

I am to write a paper about persons with disabilities, being forced to have their tubes tied, and are some capable of raising their children. What databases would be good to use?

Answer

Hello Katie

I would suggest that you combine some Healthcare databases and Psychology and Social Science databases. If you go to the OU Portal and login, go to the Myers Library Page and find the Online Library Databases. In the databases go to Ebscohost and combine Academic Search Premier, CINAHL, Consumer Health Complete, Medline, Social Science Index FT, PsycArticles, Psychology and Behavioral Sciences.

I tried the search using the terms   TUBAL STERILIZATION AND HANDICAPPED

and since I only found 3 article, I emailed them to you at your above email. Please check your email this morning for those three articles.

To find those you have to check the scholarly and peer reviewed boxes below the search box.

If you are looking to expand your search, if you and you do not click the boxes, you will find 12 articles, but many are abstracts and you will have to request the articles from ILL.

If you have any further questions please call 785-248-2536 or email me back.

Thanks.
