The thesis statement is a statement that usually sits in the introduction of your essay that summarizes what you will talk about in it. It is often a response to a question or even a set of questions. It is usually about two lines of a summary. See the thesis statement as the body of your essay. The thesis statement is in a nutshell the summary of your essay. If you read scholarly articles it is usually the main part of the abstract of the article that tells the reader what the article is about. The thesis statement determines what the layout of your paper will be. So when you are asking the question above about using statement analysis, it should focus on the truthfulness of your argument, because it affirms what the conclusions are that you have come to in your paper based on the summation of the research that you have gathered to make your case, whatever it might be.
